The X Files 6x08 - Rain King
这一集，与其说是科幻，倒更像是一个童话
Kroner,一个再普通不过的美国小镇，因其诡异的气象记录而引起了 Mulder的注意。这里不仅常年干旱，而且，“过去三十年，龙卷风、热浪和冰雹比县里其他小镇都要多得多，就好像这里是极端天气的发源地一样”。
被称为"rain king"的，是一个叫Daryl的痞混，似乎在一夜之间具有了呼风唤雨的本事，从此在小镇和附近应邀来回求雨抗旱，转的盆满钵满。
Daryl三年前为一个电话服务生跟妻子Sheila离了婚。Sheila与Daryl是高中同学，虽然Sheila对Daryl一片痴情，却从未得到Daryl半点回爱及善待。
Holman与Sheila还有Daryl是同一所高中的同学，并和Sheila同在小镇电视台天气频道工作。Holman是那里的天气预报员。Holman暗恋Sheila几十年，羞于自卑从未敢表白，只作为Sheila的亲密好友默默照顾在她身边。
Holman敏感而压抑的情绪和感受，是这小镇上所有异常天气的根源包括Sheila和Daryl高中舞会上出现的龙卷风、他们盛夏婚礼上的暴雪，以及自己母亲去世当天的玫瑰花瓣雨。。。只是隐隐觉察这些事件间的牵连，但是Holman从未确切清楚自己的力量同时也无法控制。
噢。。。你还有听过比这更浪漫的事么？人们通常认为天气很大程度上影响着他们的情绪，但是谁说就不能反过来？人的情绪也可以影响天气！不知为什么，Kroner的天气就是可以反映Holman的心情，更准确的说，是反映他从未能表达出来过的心情！
。。。于是我们终于明白：
常年干旱。。。是因为Holman缺少所希望的爱的滋润；大雨，是因为Holman伤心、以及错误的对Daryl的内疚，还有龙卷风、大雪。。。最cute的，是Mulder自告奋勇去开导Holman叫他释放和表达情绪一段，Scully打电话来告诉Mulder 机场忽然大雾（当然拉，因为这时的Holman正在大迷茫，急需恋爱辅导^ ^），随后Mulder 和Scully进行的一番电话对白以及各自面目表情，。。。这一段我每看一遍都要满地打滚数次。
- Mulder, it's me.
- I'm on my way.
- I'm not so sure. Have you looked outside lately?
It's pea soup.
Our plane can't take off until after this fog lifts.
- Fog? Holman!（这时Holman给出一个超级纯洁无辜滴表情。。）
- Holman?
- Yeah. He wants advice.
Dating advice.
- Dating advice? From whom?
- （M 含蓄而得意地）Yours truly.
。。。
(对方沉默..长久沉默，此时注意观察M的表情，疑惑、不安，极端可爱。。)
- ...Hello? Hey, Scully.
Scully, you there?
- （S以极端搞笑的打死我也不信的表情艰难做出反应，语调则极端可爱。。。） I heard you.
...Mulder, when was the last time you went on a date?
- I will talk to you later.（M迅速挂机）
- （另一端，S呆呆地，自语）The blind leading the blind.
接下来还有更搞笑的。。
之后，Holman终于鼓起勇气向Sheila表白，Sheila却一时无法接受转身离去。外面已经连天的倾盆大雨，开始雷电交加 ...#$%^@&*)，这时站在一旁全部看在眼里的Mulder，无奈扭头对Scully说了一句：“I'll build the ark. You gather the animals.（我去造诺亚方舟，你去赶动物进来）”。
再次当场笑翻。
最后，Scully同志不得不亲自出马，开导Sheila，于是有了X-Files最经典（之一？）的quote:
“Well, it seems to me that the best relationships the ones that last
are frequently the ones that are rooted in friendship.
You know, one day you look at the person...
and you see something more than you did the night before.
Like a switch has been flicked somewhere.
And the person who was just a friend is...
suddenly the only person you can ever imagine yourself with.”
“Somewhere Over The Rainbow”，一首曾出现于QUEER AS FOLK, 以及LIFE ON MARS的音乐，再次出现于这一集XFILES结尾。
