8, Kimosabe, he Lone Ranger was a long-running early radio and television show based on a masked cowboy in the American Old West, who gallops about righting injustices, usually with the aid of a clever and laconic American Indian called Tonto, and his horse Silver.Tonto greets the Lone Ranger with the expression "kemosabe", which has also been written "Kemo Sabe" or "Kemo Sabhay". Crimewatch is a long-running and high-profile British television programme produced by the BBC, that reconstructs major unsolved crimes with a view to gaining information from the members of the public. The programme is usually broadcast once a month on BBC One. Crimewatch was first broadcast on June 7, 1984, and is based on the German TV show Aktenzeichen XY... ungelöst (which translates as File XY... Unsolved). It started as Crimewatch UK (the name was formally shortened to Crimewatch in 2002) and was regarded as an experiment when it was first shown, partly because of doubts about whether police would take part, whether witnesses and victims would welcome the idea, whether it would actually lead to arrests, and whether it could be considered to prejudice a jury.

The programme was first launched by Nick Ross and Sue Cook. When Cook decided to leave in 1995, she was replaced by Jill Dando. After Dando's murder in April 1999, Fiona Bruce took over. After 23 years as presenter, one of the longest runs in television, Nick Ross fronted his last Crimewatch on July 2, 2007, soon followed by Fiona Bruce who presented her last show on December 20, 2007. Kirsty Young and Matthew Amroliwala have hosted the show since January 2008[1]

Several police officers have also featured in the studio, including David Hatcher, Helen Phelps, Jeremy Payne, Jackie Haymes, Jonathan Morrison, Jane Corrigan and most recently Rav Wilding. For many years the show also recruited antiques experts John Bly, Eric Knowles and Paul Hayes to help with 'treasure trove' appeals to trace owners of goods that had been recovered and which were assumed to be stolen.

While Nick Ross was for so long strongly identified with the show its format still owes much to the original executive producer Peter Chafer and series producer Ritchie Cogan who insisted on a strong public service remit and who introduced what were then considered novelties, such as computer graphics.

Crimewatch airs once a month at peak time with a 15-minute follow-up later in the evening Crimewatch Update which reports on calls. From time to time the team airs an extra programme Crimewatch: Solved showcasing cases that resulted in convictions; and sometimes produce a Crimewatch special which reviews an entire high-profile case from beginning to end such as the murder of Sarah Payne.

Jill Dando's murder was reconstructed and shown on Crimewatch though the appeal did not result in the arrest of Barry George who was later convicted of the killing.

Crimewatch is one of the largest live factual studio productions. The format of the programme usually involving three or four reconstructions, often followed by interviews with senior detectives and/or relatives or friends. Other briefer appeals use the E-FIT computer system, CCTV and photos, usually with two lists, each showing four or five mugshots of Britain's Most Wanted about 15 minutes into the programme and again towards the end of the programme. These photos are, then, shown again during the credits, and this is one of the few programmes in which the BBC do not 'credit squeeze'.

Despite initial concerns about police involvement (only three forces agreed to participate at first) Crimewatch developed a special status with police and was credited with an expertise of its own, notably through Nick Ross' long experience with public appeals. Unlike the American equivalent spawned by Crimewatch, America's Most Wanted, Crimewatch itself usually appeals for unsolved cases, inviting viewers to be armchair detectives. According to the producers about a third of its cases are solved, half of those as a direct result of viewers' calls. Its successes have included some of the Britain's most notorious crimes, including the kidnap of Stephanie Slater and murder of Julie Dart, the M25 rapist, the road-rage killing by Kenneth Noye, and the capture of two boys for the abduction and murder of James Bulger.

Nick Ross ended each episode by reminding viewers that violent crime is actually very rare and encouraging them not to have nightmares (due to the show's late air time). His phrase, "don't have nightmares, do sleep well" has been referenced and spoofed in numerous TV shows and stand-up comedy routines.

5, Juliet Bravo, Juliet Bravo was a British television series which ran between 1980 and 1985. The theme of the series concerned a female police inspector who took over control of a police station in a fictional town of Hartley in Lancashire. The name of the show is the inspector's radio call sign.

The role of Inspector Jean Darblay was played by Stephanie Turner between 1980 and 1982, and her replacement Inspector Kate Longton was played by Anna Carteret between 1983 and 1985.

Seasons 1 and 2 were produced by Terence Williams. From season 3, the producer changed to Jonathan Alwyn, and was script edited by Chris Boucher.


6, Jill Gascoine, Jill Gascoine (born 11 April 1937) is a British actress and novelist. She is best known for her role as Maggie Forbes on the British TV series The Gentle Touch and C.A.T.S. Eyes. She had previously appeared in The Onedin Line and on General Hospital (UK).

Born in Lambeth, England, Gascoine's early acting career included work with future left wing film director Ken Loach. During the 1960s, she enjoyed a run of several years in leading roles at Dundee Repertory Theatre and later owned a local hotel in Dundee.

A successful television career was marked by the role of Letty Gaunt in The Onedin Line (1970–1978) and by the leading role of female cop Maggie Forbes in The Gentle Touch (1980–1984). She also played Maggie Forbes in the follow-up series C.A.T.S. Eyes (1985–1987).

Less elevated roles included a part in Confessions of a Pop Performer (1975).

Gascoine is married to fellow actor Alfred Molina and now lives in Los Angeles.

She also has written several successful novels, including Addicted.

7, The Gentle Touch, The Gentle Touch is a British television drama made by LWT for ITV which ran from 1980-1984. Commencing transmission on April 11, 1980, the series is notable for being the first to feature a woman police detective as its leading character, beating the BBC series Juliet Bravo by four months.

The series starred Jill Gascoine as Detective Inspector Maggie Forbes, who has worked her way up through the ranks of the police force and is based at the Seven Dials police station in London. Maggie's husband, a police constable, is murdered during the first episode, leaving her to juggle her career with single parenthood, raising her teenage son.

The Gentle Touch largely dealt with routine police procedures and a frank depiction of relevant social issues (including racism, sexism, homosexuality, mental health and euthanasia) and was low on action and violence in comparison to previous crime series such as The Sweeney. Maggie was usually seen behind the wheel of a stationary car, because in real life actress Jill Gascoine could not drive[citation needed].

The Gentle Touch was a huge ratings success in the UK, where it was screened on Friday nights in a 9.00pm slot. The series made Gascoine a household name in the UK and lasted for five seasons, however the character of Maggie Forbes lasted longer. In 1985, she returned in the more action oriented series C.A.T.S. Eyes (also created by Terence Feely) about a team of female detectives in Kent. The series has often been described as a British version of 'Charlie's Angels'


8, Syd Little, 斯德·利特尔Syd Little (born 1942), is an English comedian and straight man in the double act Little and Large, along with Eddie Large.

After leaving Yew Tree Secondary Modern School, Wythenshawe and working as an interior decorator. He started as a singer and guitarist in Manchester pubs before teaming up with Eddie Large. Their double act won Opportunity Knocks in 1971 and this led to a successful 20 year television career.

After the cancellation of The Little and Large Show in 1991, Syd Little fell into relative obscurity, appearing occasionally on shows such as Shooting Stars, until 2005 when he took part in the reality television show Trust Me I'm A Holiday Rep.

Syd appeared in the Pantomime production of Aladdin at the Grand Opera House (York) 14 December 2006 to 7 January 2007. He stayed in York during the production. This Christmas, he is once again in Aladdin at The Southport Theatre no 11 with Lisa Riley from 8th December - 6th January 2008.

10,  Watch With Mother, Watch with Mother was a cycle of children's programmes broadcast in the 1950s by BBC Television that was created by Freda Lingstrom.

Originally known as For The Children, it changed to Watch With Mother in 1952. It was the first BBC television programme specifically aimed at pre-school children, like its radio equivalent Listen with Mother that also started in 1950. (Note that Muffin the Mule was broadcast on TV from 1946 but it was aimed at children of all ages).

Andy Pandy was first broadcast in July 1950. At first it was shown between 3:45pm and 4:00pm but was later moved to lunchtime. Later attempts to move it to the morning were met with fierce opposition. Eventually on each weekday a different programme was broadcast. The initial cycle of shows was:

    * Picture Book - Mondays (from 1955) Presented by Patricia Driscoll and by Vera McKechnie in the 1963 series.
    * Andy Pandy - Tuesdays (from 1950)
    * Flower Pot Men - Wednesdays (from 1952)
    * Rag, Tag and Bobtail - Thursdays (from 1953)
    * The Woodentops - Fridays (from 1955)

The original programmes had a loyal following and there was concern when it was learned that they would be replaced by new programmes, as in 1965 when it was thought that Camberwick Green would replace Andy Pandy and The Flowerpot Men. Eventually the new programmes were added including: Tales of the Riverbank, Pogles' Wood, Bod, Trumpton and Mary Mungo & Midge.

By 1973, the Watch With Mother name had been dropped; by 1980 the strand had been named See-Saw. However a Watch with Mother video became a best-seller in 1987, and was followed by a second in 1989. Since the shows were a great success and fondly remembered by many, modern incarnations of the shows, Andy Pandy and The Flowerpot Men have been produced.

Al Jolson (May 26, 1886–October 23, 1950) was a highly acclaimed American singer, comedian and actor of Jewish heritage whose career lasted from 1911 until his death in 1950. Al Jolson was the first popular singer to make a spectacular "event" out of singing a song. Prior to Jolson, popular singers such as John McCormack and Henry Burr would stand still, with only very minimal gesturing as they performed. In contrast, Jolson displayed tremendous energy using dynamic gestures and other movement. Jolson was the first entertainer to have a runway extending out from the center of the stage, so he could be closer to the audience. It was very common for Jolson to sit on the end of the runway and have personal one-on-one conversations with audience members, which had also never been done before.

Jolson was known to stop major Broadway productions in which he was performing, turn to the audience and ask them if they would rather hear him sing instead of watching the rest of the play. The answer was always a resounding yes, and Jolson would spend at least the next hour singing an impromptu concert. His friend George Burns said, "...Jolson was all show business!"

2, Livingstone, 是指被昵称为Red Ken的左派伦敦市长 Ken Livingstone, 肯·利文斯通1945年在伦敦南部出生，是个地地道道的伦敦人。利文斯通在英国政坛上一直是个另类，一向以敢说直言著称，其特立独行的左派作风差点让他在政治上翻船，跟首相布莱尔的关系也一直是紧张有余，松弛不足。但是，几十年来他依然故我。利文斯通1969年加入工党，开始其政治生涯，曾两次当选议员。在工党30多年，他赢得了工党基层党员的爱戴，却为工党高层所不容。他愿意跟新芬党及爱尔兰共和军对话，支持同性恋组织，支持欧洲单一货币政策，还呼吁废除君主制，都与英国的政治主流不相容。由于他的左派立场，他被称为“红色的肯”。前任首相撒切尔夫人不喜欢他，认为他是个“麻烦制造者”，而现任首相布莱尔曾一度把他说成是“伦敦的灾难”。
