Doctor Who第三季将暂不会推出HDTV版本
文章大意是将在BBC1台首播的Doctor Who第三季目前不会推出HDTV版本。
主要原因是拍摄时用的是digibeta，而不是HD, (火炬木是用HD拍摄的)，主要是因为使用了非常多的特效(10-20倍于火炬木小组)，所以用非HD拍摄节约资金。
那么同样的原因，由于使用了很多的特效，需要对画面细节进一步修饰才能移植到HDTV上，而这笔处理的费用同样目前来说难以承受，所以Doctor Who第三季目前不会推出HDTV版本。
不过大家可以放心，第三季播出的是PDTV格式(欧洲标清电视), 已经很清楚了。

Fans have been delighted to find BBC Three's "Torchwood" in high-definition digital quality. But while it might seem like a logical progression that "Torchwood's" parent, "Doctor Who," would follow suit, don't hold your breath.
"We do have conversations about it, but I don't think we're ready to be on HD," Julie Gardner, an executive producer for "Doctor Who," told The Stage. "I think it would take more time for us to do our post-production, and I think it would be more costly. And I genuinely love the look that we've managed to achieve with our [directors of photography] and our grade on 'Doctor Who.'"
When a show moves over to HD, even the smallest visual details because highly important to clean up. Because "Doctor Who" is so special effects-oriented, the production crews would have to have the effects finished down to the most minute detail, Gardner said.
"We do so many effects on 'Doctor Who' compared to 'Torchwood' -- I can't think what the exact ratio is, but if we're doing a hundred effects on an episode of 'Doctor Who,' we're doing ... 20 or 10 on 'Torchwood.'"
The non-HD version of "Doctor Who" Season 3 premieres March 31 on BBC One.

They don't get them in HD in the UK, either -- Doctor Who is still shot on digibeta, not HD. Torchwood is done in HD, but RTD reckons the cost of rendering the special effects in HD is too much for them right now.
