《飞出个未来》人物介绍[英文版,等待翻译]

《飞出个未来》人物介绍[英文版,等待翻译]

Futurama has produced some very interesting characters... to say the least. The cast ranges form the 20th century slacker Fry, thrust into the 31st century, to the underappreciated Leela a one eyed mutant. All of the characters are well developed, but share something in common, they're a bunch of misfits. The good 'ole days of having a competent spaceship crew are gone. Move over Star Trek, Futurama is here.

The Character section of this guide is interpretative. Most people have their own impressions of the main players and... this is mine. By all means send me your thoughts and I may add them as a comments to this page.

Futurama: People: Philip J Fry

Philip J Fry is a 20th Century leftover, slacker and delivery boy for Planet Express. When not sitting on his ass watching TV, he can be found on a suicidal delivery mission, or hitting on Leela.

If you were to see Fry in a bar, he'd be drinking beer. Most likely a bud, but any crap American beer will do fine. He'd be surrounded by "friends", each making coarse jokes at his expense.

Fry originally hails from the 20th century like most of us. He had a dead end job as a delivery boy, a girlfriend who cheated on him, and generally nothing to look forward too. All that changed one day when he accidentally froze himself during a crank pizza delivery. He awoke a thousand years later in the future of New New York City.
He met up with his last living relative, his great x30 grand nephew Professor Farnsworth and began working for him as... a delivery boy. Some people just can't win. His job can be described as suicidal at best. Luckily he works with his two best friends Bender and the ship captain Leela, who try not to get him killed that often.

Leela is the love of his life. Despite geting space babes without trying (and chicks with two eyes), he always strikes out with her. It seems the more he tries the more he fails. Fry has literally moved the stars in the heavens for her (Time Keeps on Slipping). Said stunt got Leela to marry him. But because of time fluxuations, no-one could remember why they got married, and they got divorced soon afterward. Fry's love for Leela has been a driving force in the young slacker's life.

Fry is roommates with Bender a robot. Fry lives in Bender's closet which is actually a nice sized room. The two get into all sorts of trouble, usually on purpose. Oddly enough, Bender has been his one true friend in all his life. yeah his life sucked! When not raising robot hell, they can also be found slacking off at work, or mooching off their other friends,

As it turns out, Fry's accidental freezing wasn't an accident after all. The Nibblonians, engineered it so that Fry would be sent a thousand years to the future so that he could one day defeat the Brain Spawn. Fry has an immunity to their debilitating delta brain waves. His brain is shut off in certain areas... As a matter of fact nibbler puches Fry into the cyro-machine when he leaned backward. Fry traveled back in time and had the option to prevent this from happening, but he decided that he liked it better in the 31th century, and made sure he got frozen again.

Why is only Fry immune from the deadly delta waves you ask? Because he's his own grandmother! In All's Well that's Roswell, Fry accidentally travels back in time and has sex with his grandmother, fathering his own father! It's a complicated episode. It won an Emmy, good stuff, you should watch it, it'll all make a lot more sense.

Fry has adjusted well to 31st century life. He's done all the things he's ever wanted to do as a 20th Century child, like have a robot friend, walk on the moon, work on a spaceship. His met aliens, slept with their women, chugged their beers, and conquered their worlds.

Futurama: People: Turanga Leela

Turanga Leela is the captain of the Planet Express. She's a hard as nails fem-mutant, who couldn't get a second date to save her life.

If you were to see Leela in a bar, you'd be amazed that she's drinking twice as much of drink with twice the proof of yours. You might be tempted to walk over and ask her out, but it might be difficult to come up with a good pick-up line because of her eye.

Leela is a mutant. She was abandoned at a minimum security orphanage as an infant be her parents because she looked almost human. The almost meaning her one eye. She was raised to believe that she was a alien, and spent most of her life searching for her home planet. Of course she was on it all along, earth. And she's responsible for piloting the ship, no wonder they're always getting lost.

Leela is used to the jokes about her eye, but make of her nose, and you will live to regret it!

She wants nothing more then to feel loved. It's all about childhood insecurities, of being an orphan, and blah blah blah. What this means is that she is constantly looking for a romantic partner. Too bad she has high standards and rejects any man with low enough standards to date her. Leela could always get a date with Fry (whom she was married to for a few seconds), but she wants more then the 20th century delivery boy. In an alternate universe, Leela 1 did date Fry and found him to be the most charming and romantic man, and married him. She never looked back. Sucks for the normal Leela (A).

Leela once worked as a bureaucrat, a fate assignment officer for people waking out of cryo-sleep. After she met Fry, she ditched her job, and joined him to work at Planet Express as the ship's captain. She's highly qualified, and keeps the jokers Fry and Bender in line. Her innate talent of being on the foot end of an alien ass kicking, and technical skills make her an invaluable member (read: lifesaver) of the Planet Express team.

Futurama: People: Bender

Bender is a robotic bending unit. But more importantly he's the Planet Express's chef and best friend to Fry. He's sarcastic, blunt, thieving, alcoholic, scamming, lying, dishonest, harsh, cruel, sadistic, opportunistic, greedy...

If you were to see Bender in a pub, he'd be drinking, a lot. it doesn't matter what kind of liquor, he'd drink anything, and lots of it. And he'd try to walk out before paying his bill. If he has to pay, it'll be with the money that was lifted out of your wallet!

Bender was once a loyal, respectable robot. He worked as a bending unit in a factory that produced girders. When he learned his creations were used in suicide booths, he couldn't live with himself, and set off to kill himself in one of the suicide booths. Ironic much? Along the way he befriended Fry, and started a new life with his human friend. But not before helping him escape from the authorities. During the escape, Bender walked into a light socket and electrocuted his central processor, perverting his programming into the cantankerous, thieving Bender we have today.

Bender is a selfish, thief who can best be described as a sociopath. Which is sorta implied since robots have no emotions nor a conscious. While I wouldn't want to be around the robot in real life, he makes a great character to watch. He's constantly finding ways to make money (legally), slack off and more often then not (illegally) acquire more money. For Bender, it's all about the Nixons!

His passion is cooking. Which is strange because he has no tastebuds. He adores Elzar the cook, and seeks to emulate him. Too bad his concoctions are inedible at best, and trice deadly at worst. Believe it or not, his cooking has improved over the four seasons, and he hasn't been fired, so it can't be that bad. Well yeah it can...

Futurama: People: Amy Wong

Perennially pink jogging-suited Amy Wong is the intern for Planet Express. She began the series as an engineering student of the professor’s at Mars University. Still, I think her parents being the richest people on Mars had more to do with that than her intellect.

If you were to meet Amy in a bar, it wouldn’t take much to get her into the backseat of your car. All you'd need is a good line. But watch your upholstery, she’ll slip in an oil-slick in the parking lot.

Amy spends her most of her time getting involved in different adventures of the crew. She basically serves as some comic relief when Bender just won’t do. The rest of her time is spent bragging about her cuteness or slipping on something and hitting the floor. She did briefly come to the forefront when she and Fry shared her body, when she met Kif and when the crew visited her parents’ ranch.

She systematically made her way through most of the male population of several species until she and Kif Kroker finally got together for good when Amy saved him from amazonian love. But romance can be difficult in a long-distance relationship, especially when your boyfriend has tadpoles with one of your co-workers.

Kif has the ability to get pregnant (I know, he's a DUDE, but he's an amphibious dude) when he touches someone else's skin ungloved. As they say, no glove - no love. In a late series episode, "Kif Gets Knocked Up A Notch", Kif ends up losing a glove and touching several members of the Planet Express crew. He get knocked up a notch with Leela's DNA and returns to his home planet to give birth to their tadpoles. Technically, the're Leela, Kif and Amy's children since Amy's love made Kif receptive to procreation.

Her parents constantly try to play matchmaker for her and urge her to have grandchildren. They didn’t like Kif, even though they introduced him to Amy, but were thrilled when he reproduced. I guess any grandchild will do in a pinch. In the end, it all worked out, at least until the end of the series. Who knows what the creators, producers and writers had in store for them?

Futurama: People: Hermes Conrad

Organized. Perhaps the most fitting word to describe bureaucrat grade 37 Hermes Conrad. He manages, or should I say, micro-manages, the Planet Express offices.

Personal information about Hermes may be few and far between, but we have been let in on a few things in the course of the show. We know he’s a Jamaican former Olympic limbo contender, a born bureaucrat, husband to LaBarbara and father to Dwight. Dwight gets some time in the limelight later in the series as friend and business partner to the professor’s cloned son, Cubert.

Although Hermes rarely plays an up-front role in the series, he’s omnipresent in the background, helping to move the plot-line forward. His only time in the spotlight comes in How Hermes Requisitioned His Groove Back, when he has a nervous breakdown from missing a chance at bureaucratic promotion. Hermes is the classic example of someone so anal, if you stuck a lump of coal up his ass, you’d have a diamond in five minutes. And don’t think he’d let it be anything less than a top-quality diamond at that.

We are bombarded with numerous examples of Hermes’ anally-retentive nature: he shreds documents to make more documents, monitors every aspect of the consumption levels in the office - from coffee and toilet paper to water and electricity and yet still finds time for an unreasonable hatred of Zoidberg. He only takes a vacation when he has a nervous breakdown, a brain slug, it’s Freedom Day or on Labor Day.

If you were to meet Hermes in a bar, he’d probably be the manager there too. But after finishing his paperwork in record time, he’d be up front watching the bartender to make sure no one got more than one cherry per cocktail, checking the jigger measurement, calibrating the aeration on the tap, looking over the doorman’s shoulder to make sure he didn’t pocket the cover charge ... you get the idea.

Phil LaMarr provides the smooth, smooth Jamaican cadence of Hermes Conrad.

Futurama: People: Dr. Zoidberg

The company doctor for Planet Express is not your typical physician. Oh sure, he has medical charts on the wall, drawers of instruments and wears scrubs and a lab coat. But Dr. John Zoidberg also happens to have a red crustaceous shell, tentacle-like mouth flaps, sports claws sharper than any scalpel and has no medical knowledge whatsoever.

As a result of the aforementioned personal anomalies, Zoidberg doesn’t have many friends. In fact, he doesn’t have any friends. Or it could have something to do with the fact he stinks, is dirt poor, eats garbage and tends to keep cutting off Fry’s appendages. Regardless, he wants badly to belong, anywhere.

Zoidberg hails from the planet Decapod 10, where life is actually a beach. Except after the mating frenzy, when the shore is covered by rotting Decapodian carcasses being picked over by seagulls. We never learn how or why Dr. Zoidberg came to Earth; frankly, it doesn’t matter. He’s just another thread in the tapestry of Futurama. A stinky, annoying thread, but the tapestry would be nothing without him.

If the doorman actually let him in, you’d find Zoidberg eating every peanut bowl on the bar clean. Then, he’d move to the floor and suck up the crumbs like a hoover. No smooth moves for the doctor, unless there’s an aquarium in the joint. After his inevitable ouster, you’d find him feasting on the contents of the trash cans in the back alley.

Futurama: People: Zapp Brannigan

Captain. Hero. Lover. Gifted. Handsome. Extraordinary Lover. That's the way Zapp Brannigan would describe himself to most people. Those people wouldn’t be so charitable. In fact, those people would describe the captain of the Nimbus as an insensitive, ignorant, pompous jerk.

If you ran into Zapp at a bar, he’d be coming on to every female in the room, and possibly a few sexually-ambiguous men as well. He’d also get the sh*t slapped out of him by every single one of them. Kif would probably have to escort him home and put him to bed crying, like a four-year-old.

Zapp seems to have a great military reputation, but it’s built on the ruins of many a pacifist civilization he’s decimated. His only true triumphs can be credited to Kif, when Zapp bothers to listen.

He’s left behind the wreckage of the star cruise ship Titanic, the Palm D’Orbit restaurant and DOOP headquarters, just to name a few, as monuments to his incompetence. He’s traveled the galaxy, destroying peaceful sentient worlds at his leisure.

His love life is equally as successful as his career. In other words, it sucks. His only close encounters are a pity-screw from Leela and near death by snu-snu on planet Amazonia. In other words, his sheetFLYINEally stay clean and dry.

If ego counted as companionship, Zapp would never be alone. How his ego can be that big when it’s obvious from the cut of his uniform that nothing else is, I don’t know. No one can squat and gyrate in a uniform that short and not show off his willie, if he’s got enough to show.

He continues to carry a torch for Leela and makes it evident with a cheap proposition every time they meet. Which tends to be pretty often, as he and Kif "guest star" quite frequently.

According to the creators, they intended the character of Zapp Brannigan to play a much larger role in the first season than he did. Unfortunately, the death of Phil Hartman, original voice of Zapp, curbed those plans until they gauged how the new voice worked out.

Billy West stepped in and did a damn fine job, not only with mimicking Phil Hartman’s style, but with making the character his own.

Futurama: People: Kif Kroker

Kif Kroker is the long-suffering first officer of the Nimbus and Amy Wong’s main man. He also happens to be a gangly green amphibian.

I doubt very seriously you’d meet Kif in a bar. He’d only be there if Zapp made him accompany him. At that, he’s sit on the sidelines quietly, rolling his eyes at every sorry line Zapp used to try to get into someone’s panties.

Kif caters to every whim of his captain, Zapp Brannigan. Both are members of the military branch of the Democratic Order of Planets (DOOP). With a sigh of disgust, Kif performs some of the most menial and distasteful jobs a body can do. Not to mention all those trips up the ladder to the observation deck when Kif has to watch Zapp’s moon rise along with its two satellites ;). He serves as the military strategist behind Zapp’s successful front. If it wasn’t for Kif, Zapp wouldn’t be where he his today.

Kif was a solitary, lonely soul until he met Amy Wong on a disastrous star cruise. Very innocent and unworldly in the ways of love, he was painfully shy around his chosen one. That is, until his near death by snu-snu brought them together once and for all.

Amy's parents didn't exactly approve of simple little Kif. Rescuing her parents’ herd of buggalo didn’t win their approval, but giving them grandchildren did. Though Leela lent her DNA to that endeavor, Amy created the feelings of love that made it possible, making her his smizmar.

Maurice LaMarche voices Kif in stellar fashion.

太好了!,谢谢各位了!!
哈,终于见到论坛老大了~~顶一个~~非常佩服<飞出个未来>翻译组的筒子们,辛苦辛苦~~~
这个贴子真强~~~~
Zapp Brannigan

Fry
